DEVELOPMENT OF FATIGUE METER
LOK SABHA
A microprocessor
based fatigue meter for aircraft application is under development
jointly by National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL), Bangalore and
M/s Infotech Ltd. When installed the meter would measure the fatigue
cycles and enable assessment of life utilized until the last flight.
This instrument would be helpful in assessing the residual safe
life of aircraft.
The estimated
expenditure for development as reported by developing agencies
would be around Rs 18 lakh.
The instrument
will be considered for fitment on aircraft once the full scale
development is completed which is likely to be around mid 2004.
This information
was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written
reply to Shri V Vetriselvan in Lok Sabha today.
