RAM NAIK LAUDS OIL PSUs FOR MAINTAINING PRICE LEVEL

EXPEDITION TO CHARLIE POINT FLAGGED OFF
Shri Ram Naik, Minister
of Petroleum & Natural Gas, praised that the Public Sector
Oil Marketing Companies for keeping the prices of Petrol (MS)
and Diesel (HSD) unchanged for the third consecutive fortnight
which has brought solace to the consumers. He pointed out that
the oil companies were able to maintain the prices due to the
stability in the international prices of these products. It may
be recalled that after APM dismantling the oil companies have
been reviewing prices of petrol and diesel every fortnight since
June 2002 for arriving at a decision whether any revision in the
existing prices was required or not. The last revision in the
prices came about on 15th June 2002. The Minister was
speaking at a function here today to flag off the Motorbike Expedition
to Charlie Point in Ladakh organised by the Bikers for Integration
and Conservation of Environment.
The Expedition titled
as "Spirit of Freedom" is likely to cover around 6000 Kms out
of which 4000 kms will be trans-Himalyan tracks. The members of
expedition team will cross the Kargil area which has been the
scene of supreme sacrifices made by brave Indian Soldiers while
driving away the enemies. Besides, paying tributes to our Armed
Forces, the expedition aims at forging a closer bond with the
people of those regions, promote national integration and spread
the message of peace. They would traverse some of the highest
and most challenging terrains in the world. The expedition has
been sponsored by the Navratna Oil PSU, Indian Oil Corporation.
The expedition team is largely comprises of journalists.
