DSP BUILDS NEW WIRE ROD MILL
Durgapur Steel Plant
(DSP) of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) plans to
put up a wire rod mill using in-house expertise and finance. The
project is expected to cost around Rs. 40 - 50 crore and will
be completed in one year, reducing semis for sale by five per
cent to just under half of its output.
The plant has been
modernised at a cost of Rs 500 crore. Output of merchant bar will
also be increased. Hot metal production will be increased from
1.8 m to 2 m tonnes in 2002-03.
