CEASE-FIRE WITH THE NSCN(K) EXTENDED FOR ONE MORE YEAR


The Central Government and the NSCN (Khaplang) have agreed to extend the Cease-fire for one more year with effect from April 28, 2002. This was announced by the Home Minister, Shri L.K. Advani in the Lok Sabha today.

Making a brief Statement, Shri Advani said that the Union Government had entered into a formal Cease-fire with the NSCN (K) for a period of one year from April 28, 2001. During this period there have been discussions between the Representatives of the Central Government and the NSCN (K). Both sides were satisfied with the progress made in implementing the Cease-fire. Therefore, they agreed to extend the Cease-fire by a period of one more year, the Home Minister said.
