GODOWNS OF CENTRAL WAREHOUSING CORPORATION


The total number of warehouses being managed/operated by the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) as on 31.3.2002 is 475 with a total capacity of 89.00 lakh MTs.

CWC has added a total capacity of 3.24 lakh MT in the country during 2001-02, out of which 0.25 lakh MT was added in the State of Andhra Pradesh at Adilabad, Nandyal and Nandikotkur. This capacity is in addition to the capacity added for exclusive use of Food Corporation of India on Seven Years Guarantee Utilisatin out of which a capacity of 1.22 lakh MT is in different phases of construction in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

During the curreent year, CWC has plans to construct 3.25 lakh tonnes capacity. Out of this, 0.27 lakh MT capacity is proposed to be constructed in Andhra Pradesh.

This information was given in Lok Sabha today by Shri Ashok Pradhan, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in a written reply to a question by Dr. Manda Jagannath.
