SALIENT ACHIEVEMENTS OF INDIAN BUREAU OF MINES FOR FEBRUARY 2002

    In respect Ore Dressing Investigations, Indian Bureau of Mines has completed successfully upgradation of silica sand obtained in Faridabad mine in Haryana, to a concentrate conforming to Grade II of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), suitable for glass industry in a sponsored investigation.

    For Mineral Conservation, on the statutory advice of IBM to re-assess reserves of Nomoxi Tambo iron ore mine in South Goa district, Goa, Choudapur limestone mine in Bagalkot district, Karnataka and Pali silica sand mine in Faridabad district, Haryana, the respective lessees have reported enhancement in reserves from 4 to 6.06 million tonnes of iron ore, from 2 to 11.6 lakh tonnes of limestone and from 100 to 140 lakh tonnes of silica sand, which has resulted in increase in life of mines.
