EPFO TO SET UP 260 CENTRES ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO PROVIDE "ANY TIME – ANYWHERE" COUNTER SERVICE TO ITS BENEFICIARIES

    The Employees Provident Fund Organistion has set up a target of establishing 260 centres across the country following Information Technology reforms and computerization. The purpose of setting up these centres would be to provide "Any Time – Anywhere" counter service to EPF beneficiaries. This was stated by the Labour Minister Shri Sharad Yadav after laying the foundation stone of the building of the Sub-Regional Office of the EPFO at Gurgaon in Haryana today. He said that setting up of the EPFO office at Gurgaon is part of the effort to provide service to the beneficiaries nearer to their work places. Shri Yadav said that the EPF is the best social security system in post-independent India and has the biggest money reserve after the Reserve Bank of India. He said the Fund has a very good accountability system and has been free from any irregularity.

    Presiding over the function the Central Provident Fund Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh said that we are implementing an integrated system so that the beneficiaries can get various EPF facilities anywhere in the country regardless of work place. He said we have plans to settle EPF claim within three days. He said that in recognition of all round excellent performance, the Sub-Regional Office, Gurgaon has been selected as one of the six pilot sites in the country where the project " RE-INVENTING EFPO INDIA" entailing a massive BPR exercise, is to be launched.

    The Sub-Regional office at Gurgaon was opened on July 24, 2000 to cater to the growing needs of subscribers of Gurgaon, Mahindergarh and Rewari. Operating from a rented premises, it covers 13,817 establishments and has 8,91,496 members as on March 31, 2002.
