WORKING GROUP SUBMITS REPORT
The Department of Company Affairs Constituted a working group consisting of the regulatory institutions in India, trade bodies and other stakeholders for suggesting preparation of a request list in accountancy sector and to suggest negotiation strategy for ongoing trade negotiations under GATS. The working group was set up in February 2002 under the Chairmanship of Shri Sunil Bhargav, Member Central Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The group has submitted its report today to Shri Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Law, Justice & Company Affairs.
This is the outcome of brainstorming discussions by regulatory institutions namely Institute of Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants and Company Secretaries alongwith eminent experts, trade bodies like FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM. The report has been placed before the Government for finalisation of India’s strategy in the accountancy sector for ongoing negotiations under GATS.
