INNOVATIVE OPTIONS SOLICITED TO SOLVE PROBLEMS

ADVANI ADDRESSES TOP POLICY MAKERS

    The Union Home Minister Shri L. K. Advani has called upon the top-level policy makers to adopt new options for resolving the problems faced by our country. While inaugurating a workshop on ‘Leadership and Change Management’ here today, Shri Advani said that this type of workshop is the need of the time and hoped that it would come up with numerous innovative suggestions.

    Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for Personnel, Smt. Vasundhara Raje highlighted the prominent position of the citizen in a democracy and also the need to place the citizen at the centre of all policy making. She drew attention to the technological revolution taking place and the challenges being faced in this context. Addressing the gathering, the Cabinet Secretary, Shri T. R. Prasad pointed out the important role played by Civil Servants in national policy making them to think in holistic manner, keeping in mind national goals, rather than narrow departmental interest. Earlier the Secretary, Department of Personnel, Shri A. K. Agarwal welcomed the participants.

    The workshop is being conducted by the Department of Personnel and Training for top level officers of the Government of India from 5th to 7th April, 2002. It is being conducted in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, who have spared some of their leading faculty for this purpose. The programme has been custom designed to meet the needs of the top-level policy makers in the country, particularly in the context of the rapidly changing times and the new role that the Government needs to play.
