RSP POSTS BEST PERFORMANCE SINCE INCEPTION

    Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) of the Steel Authority of India Ltd. achieved all time high performance since inception during the financial year 2001-02. It has broken during the year almost all records in production and despatch. It produced 2.3 million tonnes (MT) of Sinter, 1.5 MT of Hot Metal, 1.33 MT of concast slabs, 1.1 MT of HR Coils and 1.35 MT of saleable Steel. The highest ever production was recorded in total Sinter, Hot Metal, HR Coils and Saleable Steel.

    The despatch of 1.36 MT of Saleable Steel in 2001-2002 was also the highest since inception. On the techno-economics front too, RSP crossed several milestones. It achieved 7 per cent reduction in energy consumption. The Steel Plant also recorded the lowest ever coke rate.

    RSP achieved growth of 5 per cent, 7.4 per cent and 4.6 per cent in the production of Hot Metal , Crude Steel and Saleable Steel in 2001-02 as compared to 2000-01 and registered more than 90 per cent capacity utilisation in the facilities installed under modernisation. The plant also achieved a significant growth in the production of value added products. It recorded a growth of 15 per cent, 14 per cent and 12 per cent in the production of HR Coils, Plates and SW Pipes.
