WCL, SCCL AND BCCL EACH WIN THREE MINE SAFETY AWARDS
Out of 346 mines that participated for mine safety awards, mines of Western Coalfield Limited, Singareni Collieries Company Limited and Bharat Coking Coal Limited won nine Mine Safety Awards. Subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd. won total 14 awards out of 32 Awards conferred for the year 2000.
The awards were given for safety performance in two categories viz. longest accident free period and lowest injury frequency rate during the last three consecutive years. Six mines of CIL won longest accident free period awards. In belowground category, Silewara Colliery of WCL, Ravindra Khani No. 6 Incline of SCCL were the winners and Sobhapur Mine of WCL and Parasea Colliery of ECL were Runners-up. In Opencast category, Dhori Quarry No. 3 of CCL won and Jawahar Khani Opencast of SCCL was Runners-up.
In Metal Mines belowground category, Khetri Copper Mine of HCL won the award and Kolihan Copper Mine of HCL was Runner-up.
In lowest injury frequency per lakh manshifts, Chirmiri Colliery of SECL, Kalyan Khani No. 5 of SCCL and Nichitpur Colliery of BCCL were winners and Madhuband Colliery of BCCL, Dhori Khas Colliery of CCL and Neeljay Opencast Mine of WCL were Runners-up.
In lowest injury frequency per million cubic metre of output, Kalinga Opencast Project of MCL won the award and Muraidih Colliery of BCCL was Runner-up.
