TEXT OF NCRWC ON LAW MINISTRY WEBSITE
The Government has decided to make public the full text of the final report of the National Commission to Review the Working of the Constitution on the website of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Company Affairs. Accordingly, the text of the full report shall be available on the website http://lawmin.nic.in/Legal.htm and another website http://lawmin.nic.in from this evening onward. A decision to this effect was taken by the Union Cabinet, here today. The objective of putting it on the website is to generate public opinion through debate and discussions and media coverage.
The report contains two volumes. The first volume consists of main recommendations of the Commission. The second volume contains two sub-volumes including 22 Consultation Papers, background papers and details of the deliberations of the Commission and the report of its drafting and editorial committee.
The Commission has about 249 recommendations, including certain recommendations involving amendments to the Constitution. The report runs into 1976 pages.
As for its implementation, there are 18 Ministries and Departments and the State Governments, which will examine and process the report before the matter is taken up for further consideration in the form of amendments to the Constitution or otherwise.
