    The Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd. (KIOCL), a public sector undertaking of the Steel Ministry has recorded an all time high turnover of Rs. 712 crore during the financial year 2001-02. The company's turn over during the year has increased by 22% over the previous year. It has achieved a production of 5.4 million tonnes of Iron Ore concentrate and 3.215 million tonnes of Pellets. Exports during the year amounted to 5.516 million tonnes of concentrate and pellets. It has earned foreign exchange of $150 million during the year as against $127 million in the previous year. Nearly 35% of the cargo handled by the new Mangalore Port Trust came from KIOCL.
