FINDINGS OF SAFETY COMMISSIONER ON 3308 DN

GANGA-SATLUJ EXPRESS ACCIDENT

    Shri G.P. Garg, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Northern Circle, New Delhi has held a statutory inquiry into the incident of blast and fire in a coach of Dhanbad bound 3308 Dn Ganga-Satluj Express train which occurred in the night of 13th March, 2002 when the train was running between Sanehwal and Doraha stations on Ludhiana-Ambala Cantt. Section of Northern Railway. In this incident, three passengers lost their lives, four sustained grievous injuries and other 21 received simple injuries.

    According to the Provisional Findings of the Commissioner, the fire occurred due to bursting of some explosive device containing inflammable material, being carried in the coach, which could be an act of "Sabotage". Government Railway Police, Sirhind, has registered a case and investigations are in progress.

    The Commissioner has sent his preliminary report for consideration of the Central Government.
