DEPwD, M/o Social Justice & Empowerment Strives to Address Concerns of Divyangjan Through Helpline Numbers
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment through its various organisations strives to address the concerns of Person with Disabilities Divyangjan) for their effective rehabilitation and inclusion.
The Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO) has started a Helpline service for providing information on aids and assistive devices for Divyangjan (PwDs) including repair of such devices. Similarly National Handicapped Finance Development Corporation (NHFDC), which provides loan at concessional rate of interest and also runs Skill training programmes for Divyangjan (PwDs) has started Helpline services for dissemination of information relating to such matters. Further, one of the National Institutes namely National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), Secunderabad is providing information relating to Special Education, Occupational therapy physiotherapy related issues etc through a dedicated toll-free helpline number.
In addition, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, the premiere Health Institute in the country under Ministry of H&FW also has a dedicated helpline for persons with autism and their parents.
With a view to give wide publicity to these Helpline numbers of the above organisations, the DEPwD has started advertising these numbers through Doordarshan News Channel from 23.07.2020. Organisation wise helpline numbers are given as under:
