Opening up of Cotton Procuring Centres
Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has been advised to open additional
cotton procurement centres in consultation with the State Governments as and
when required as envisaged under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) operation
announced by the Government
Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has been
advised to open additional cotton procurement centres in consultation with the
State Governments as and when required as envisaged under the Minimum Support
Price (MSP) operation announced by the Government.
For the Cotton Season 2014-15, CCI has planned
to operate more than 340 procurement centres in 92 districts across 11 Cotton
growing States in the country as given below :-

By the end of November, 2014 CCI has procured
approximately 11,58,000 bales of cotton valuing around 2700 Crores for market
stablisation and thereby alleviating farmers’ distress.
This
information was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the
Ministry of Textiles Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar in a written reply in Lok Sabha
today.
