APEX BODY OF THE CONSULTATIVE MACHINERY OF CENTRAL GOVERNMENT
EMPLOYEES MEETS
National Council (Joint Consultative
Machinery and Compulsory Arbitration), the apex body of the consultative
machinery of the Central Government Employees, met today under
the Chairmanship of Shri Kamal Pande, Cabinet Secretary. Senior
leaders of the Central Government employees and Secretaries of
various Ministries/Departments participated in the deliberations.
In his opening remarks, Shri
Kamal Pande stated that in its continuing bid to provide good
governance, the Government has been contemplating a series of
administrative reforms which would smoothen the interface between
the government machinery and the public. These reforms would include
new initiatives to make the administration more efficient, transparent,
citizen-friendly and accountable. There would be a gradual switch
over to e-governance and to the culture of ‘less paper office’.
A fresh round of simplification of rules, regulations and procedures
is also on the anvil. These steps are being taken to fulfil growing
aspirations of a democratically governed people as also to meet
the new challenges thrown in by the imperatives of globalzation.
Towards these ends, among other things, training programmes would
be organized to help Central Government employees to acquire new
skills and upgrade existing competencies.
Various issues which are of
importance to the Central Government employees and their families,
affecting the interest of more than 30 lakh employees were discussed
in the meeting , with a view to find an amicable solution and
to ensure harmonious relations.
A consensus was also arrived
at that there would be a concerted effort through mutual discussions
to bring in the highest level of efficiency in Government sector
to transform it into a modern, professional and responsive machinery,
which is capable of ensuring quick and efficient delivery of public
service.
