COPPER PRODUCTION IN APRIL-SEPTEMBER
2003
The total copper
cathode production in the country during April-September 2003
has been 1,93,883 tonnes against 1,58,970 tonnes during the same
period last year. It has been slightly less than the target of
2,08,165 tonnes for the period. Out of the total production during
these 6 months the public sector Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL) produced
15,620 tonnes, Private sector Hindustan Aluminium Company Ltd.
(HINDALCO) 85,316 tonnes and Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd.
(SIL) 92,947 tonnes.
During September
2003 the total production of copper has been 34,138 tonnes against
a target of 36,292 tonnes. Out of this HCL produced 2502 tonnes,
HINDALCO 16,364 tonnes and SIL 15,272 tonnes.
