SHRI RAM NAIK LEAVES FOR AUSTRALIA ON FINAL LEG OF CAMPAIGN TO
PROMOTE NELP-IV OFFER
Shri Ram Naik, Minister
of Petroleum and Natural Gas will leave tonight on a visit to
Australia as part of an aggressive campaign for promoting the
fourth round of offer of 24 exploration blocks under New Exploration
Licensing Policy (NELP-IV). Shri Naik will be heading a High Level
Delegation comprising Shri B.K. Chaturvedi, Secretary (P&NG),
Dr. Avinash Chandra, DG, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons and
Shri J.M. Mauskar, Joint Secretary (P&NG). The delegation
will hold the fifth and final Road Show at Perth on 26th
June followed by one-to-one interaction on 27th June
with the representatives of interested companies and organisations.
Shri Naik will also meet Mr. Geoff Gallop, Premiere of Western
Australia on 26th June to discuss issues of common
interest in hydrocarbon sector.
Besides informing
the participants about the better prospectivity of discovering
oil and gas in India, the Road Show will include a presentation
on attractive fiscal package and on geological aspects of blocks
on offer. The delegation will also apprise the interested companies
about the attractive second offer of 9 blocks for exploration
and production of the coal bed methane (CBM-II).
The 24 blocks on
offer include 11 on-land blocks, 12 deepwater blocks and one shallow
water block . The on-land blocks are located in the States of
Assam (1), Bihar (1), Gujarat (3), Manipur (1), Nagaland (1),
Rajasthan (1), Tamil Nadu (2) and Tripura (1). The 12 deepwater
blocks are located on both East Coast (8) and West Coast (4) and
include for the first time 2 blocks in highly prospective Andaman
& Nicobar Islands offshore deep water. One shallow water block
is located on the East Coast.
The Perth Road Show
comes in the wake of Road Shows held in the first leg of the successful
promotional campaign at Delhi (20th May), London, U.K.(5th
and 6th June), Calgary, Canada (9th and
10th June) and Houston, U.S.A (11th and
12th June). The earlier Road Shows were attended by
67 Companies at New Delhi, 83 companies at London, 34 companies
at Calgary and 66 companies at Houston representing leading E&P
companies, financial consultants and service providers.

offer closes on 30th September, 2003.
