RSP EXPORTS CRNO STEEL TO CHINA
High-value Cold Roll
Non-Grain oriented (CRNO) steel produced by Rourkela Steel Plant
(RSP) of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has made
its maiden entry into the international market. Valued at Rs.
50 lakh, 200 tonnes of CRNO steel in the grade M-43 C-3 were despatched
to China in April 2003.
RSP is expecting
export orders to the tune of 10,000 tonnes in the current fiscal.
The plant produced and despatched around 65,000 tonnes of CRNO
steel in 2002-03 thereby registering a growth of 35 per cent and
45 per cent respectively. Several new grades of CRNO were also
developed and supplied to customers as per their requirement.
The consistent
improvement in quality and packaging of RSP's CRNO products as
per customer requirements has led to its increased acceptability
in the market. Recently, a new grade of CRNO-M-45 grade with higher
coating up to 3, 6 and 7 micron - in narrow width for high capacity
generators was developed and despatched on an order from BHEL.
This grade has been successfully used and appreciated by the customer.
It is expected that BHEL will shortly sign an MoU with SAIL for
its complete requirement of M-45 grade CRNO steel.
