The National Assessment
and Accreditation Council (NAAC) assesses and accredits universities/university
level institutions recognised by UGC and colleges affiliated
to recognised universities, with an objective of helping them
to work continuously to improve upon the quality of teaching
and research. The minimum eligibility criteria for assessment
is that an institution should have completed five years of standing
or two batches of pass out students.
Assessment is a
performance evaluation of an institution and/or its units and
is accomplished using defined criteria such as curricular aspects,
teaching, learning and evaluation, research consultancy and
extension, infrastructure and learning resources, student support
and progression, organisation and management, healthy practices
etc.
