The Central Government
has decided that neutralization of ocean freight disadvantage
would be reimbursed to sugar factories at the rate of Rs. 350
per tonne with effect from February 14, 2003. It would boost
exports of sugar further.
As per published
data of Director General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics
(DGCI&S), Kolkata, the quantity of sugar exported between
April, 2002 and August, 2002 is 4.62 lakh tonnes valued at Rs.
509.89 crores.

Sabha today by the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food
and Public Distribution Shri Subhash Maharia in a written reply.
