DIESEL LOCOS IN SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY

LOK SABHA

The Railways have installed diesel loco shed in South Eastern Railway.

In view of lower maintenance and operating costs, superior load haulability and greater operational flexibility, Steam locos have been replaced by Diesel locos on Indian Railways. An investment of Rs. 8.68 crores was made in constructing Diesel shed at Kharagpur, which started functioning from 1988.

Kharagpur Diesel shed homes 114 Diesel locos.
