IMPLEMENTATION OF NATIONAL HIGHWAYS PROJECTS


LOK SABHA

Some of the highway projects in the following states have been delayed due to the problems faced in matter relating to pre-construction activity like Land Acquisition etc.:

  1. Andhra Pradesh
  2. Bihar
  3. Jharkhand
  4. Orissa
  5. Maharashtra
  6. Karnataka
  7. Tamil Nadu
  8. Goa
  9. Uttar Pradesh
  10. Nagaland

The matter has been taken up with the various State Governments at various levels including the respective Chief Ministers.

The following steps are taken to ensure speedy implementation of projects

  1. Prompt decision making and faster payments.
  2. Bonus for early completion and penalty for delays.
  3. Use of state-of-the-art technolgy.
  4. Lean officer oriented organisation tapping private sector efficiency by outsourcing project preparation, work supervision and maintenance.
  5. Periodic monitoring at various levels.
  6. Constant liaison with State Governments at higher level to expedite pre-construction activities such as land acquisition, utility shifting.
