MECHANISED WASHING OF TRAIN COACHES


Procurement of five automatic coaches washing plants is under process in the Ministry of Railways to provide for mechanised washing of train coaches.

Meanwhile, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station is the first station wherein concerted efforts have been initiated to make it a model station for cleanliness. This will be followed by New Delhi and Old Delhi stations.

Other railway stations to be brought within the ambit of new initiatives will be Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus on Central Railway, Mumbai, Howrah on Eastern Railway, Kolkata, Patna on East Central Railway, Hajipur, Gorakhpur on North Eastern Railway, Guwahati on Northeast Frontier Railway, Jaipur on North Western Railway, Chennai Central on Southern Railway, Secunderabad on South Central Railway, Ranchi on South Eastern Railway and Mumbai Central on Western Railway.

The Ministry of Railways has also directed Zonal Railway to impose fines on nuisance makers as a part of strategy to improve cleanliness, which would work as a deterrent.
