MANIPUR DELEGATION MEETS DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER


A Delegation including Ministers, representatives of United Committee of Manipur (UCM) and Office bearers of various political parties in Manipur, led by the Chief Minister met the Deputy Prime Minister, Shri L.K. Advani, here today and submitted a Memorandum relating to problems faced by the people of Manipur. The Delegation raised the matter of extortions by underground outfits from vehicles going to Manipur on National Highway-39 and cases of molestation. The Delegation demanded protection of National Highways-39 and 53 and also made a plea for broadening/upgrading National Highway-53 and for immediate commencement of construction of rail link with Manipur.

The Deputy Prime Minister assured the Delegation that their problems will be looked into and remedial action initiated.
