PRESIDENT TO VISIT MADHYA PRADESH


Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India is scheduled to visit Bhopal in the afternoon of 5th September, 2002. His programmes at Bhopal would include inauguration of the National Judicial Academy and a visit to the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre.

Apart from these, the President is scheduled to participate in an interactive programme with school children at the Vidhan Sabha, where the Jan Shiksha Adhiniyam would be formally released by him.

The President will meet some of the citizens who had been affected in the Bhopal gas leak disaster and those who are working for their welfare. He will also have an opportunity to meet a few individuals and groups.

On the morning of 6th September 2002, the President is scheduled to visit the remote village of Torni in District Khandwa where he will observe the Water Management works at Ridges 1 & 2. He would also make use of this opportunity to witness biotech activities at Ridge 2 apart from interacting with the villagers and Women Self Help Groups.

The President is returning to New Delhi by the afternoon of September 6, 2002.
