NAL
& INFOSYS TO WORK FOR TECHNOLOGY
SOLUTIONS TO AEROSPACE INDUSTRY
The CSIR’s
National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL), Bangalore and the
private sector Infosys Technologies are to work jointly
for finding advanced technology solutions primarily to the aerospace
industry. An umbrella arrangement decided by the two will essentially
enable them to work as partners, with the NAL bringing in its
domain knowledge in aerospace and its formidable infrastructure
of testing facilities while Infosys pitching in its wide global
presence and expertise in undertaking and managing sophisticated
engineering projects. An MoU on this was signed between the two,
recently.
Meanwhile,
the NAL and DLR of Germany with their two decades long cooperation
in research and development have agreed to work together for finding
innovative ideas to accelerate technology development in air-traffic
management. Air-traffic management of-late has become an art and
science of managing aircraft movements for safety, reliability,
economy and efficiency with the civil air traffic growing rapidly
world-wide and demand for existing air-space and airports shooting
up sharply. It has become a great challenge to accommodate more
air traffic without compromising on safety.
The International
Civil Aviation Organisation has identified traffic management
as a thrust area for research and development. One of its recommendations
include introduction of latest computing and data management technologies,
as well as satellite navigation for air traffic management.
