FOUNDATION STONE
FOR FLYOVER CONNECTING DWARKA WITH SOUTH DELHI UNVEILED
FLYOVER
TO CONNECT DWARKA WITH SOUTH DELHI NAMED AS JP SETHU
Defence Minister
Sh. George Fernandes today unveiled the foundation stone of the
flyover connecting Dwarka with South Delhi. He also named it as
JP Sethuafter the late Sh. Jai Prakash Narayan whose birthday
is being observed today. Union Minister of Urban Development &
Poverty Alleviation, Sh. Ananth Kumar,Labour Minister Sh.Sahib
Singh Verma, Chairman of All India Sports Council, Sh.Vijay Kumar
Malhotra, Minister of State for Urban Development, Sh. O. Rajgopaland
Lt. Governor. of NCT Delhi, Shri Vijay Kapoor were present on
the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion,
Sh. George Fernandes advised the Urban Development
Ministry to plan
new cities away from the metropolitan cities so that the inflow
of people towards the metros comes down. He expressed hope that
the executors of the project M/s Larsen and Turbo will complete
this Rs 100 crore project well before the deadline.
Minister of Urban
Development and Poverty Alleviation, Sh. Ananth Kumar while thanking
the Defence Minister and officials for cooperating with his ministry
and DDA in resolving various hitches before approving this project
said that between 1982 and 1998 twelve flyovers were built it
the capital and between 1998 and 2002 26 flyovers have been built
and in the next 2 years 20 more flyovers would be established.
Shri Ananth Kumar said that it is the vision of the ND Government
that reforms should be undertaken for development and it should
be pro-poor. He also declared that there would be a foundation
stone laying ceremony or an inauguration of some development project
every week in various MLA/MP constituency in Delhi. He also announced
that government lands confiscated from land mafia will be utilized
for setting up parks or for laying roads so that Delhi will emerge
as a healthy city free of pollution.
Minister of state
for Urban Development, Sh. O. Rajgopal expressed hope that
the project will
be completed before time if various wings of government continue
their cooperative endeavor during days ahead.
It may be noted that
the connectivity of Dwarka with Delhi would be by way of a road
along with southern boundary IGI Airport connecting NH-8 with
Dwarka and the other would be through a 6 lane access controlled
road with Rail Over Bridge across Delhi-Rewari Line.
