TOP SCIENTISTS & BUREAUCRATS TO ATTEND SEMINAR ON 'STATE OF ANIMAL
HOUSES IN INDIA'
The one-day
seminar on ‘State of Animal Houses in India’ scheduled to be held
on 10 June 2002 will be attended by senior scientists and bureaucrats
from all over the country. It is expected that more than 300 participants
will be there. Hosted by the Committee for the Purpose of Control
and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) under the animal
Welfare Division, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation,
this is the first seminar to be held on animal houses of research
laboratories in the country.
Over 30 senior
scientists and representatives of leading research laboratories
of the country will participate and make their presentations in
the seminar. Over 50 top bureaucrats from various concerned ministries
of the Government and many State representatives have also consented
to attend the seminar. Smt. Maneka Gandhi, Minister of State for
Statistics and Programme Implementation who is the host of the
seminar, will also speak on the subject.
The focus of
the seminar will be on norms of maintenance of a good animal house
and the present conditions of animal houses in various laboratories
and institutions. According to Smt Gandhi, this will be an opportunity
to learn from other people’s experiences and case studies.
