STATUS OF COMPUTERIZATION IN SUPREME COURT

The computerization in the Supreme Court of India has so far been effected in seven areas. Accordingly, fresh cases are filed before the computerized filing counter and filing receipts are generated on computer. Notices are generated on computer. Allocation of cases, bench wise, is done by the computer known as the process of bunching and grouping of cases. Cause lists are generated by the computer system. In addition, day to day orders are available on the computer.

Administration of court is through computers. Judgements of the Supreme Court are also available through internet.

It is planned that on the pattern of Singapore, one court in the Supreme Court will be E-Court. All proceedings in the proposed E-Court will be through floppies and computers.

There is a well used system of Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) at the Supreme Court through which litigants and advocates can know the latest status of their cases apart from fully computerized enquiry and facilitation centre.
