The State Governments
of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have come forward
with proposals for the formation of joint venture with Ministry
of Railways to undertake suburban transport projects in Mumbai,
four identified rail projects in Karnataka and Multinodal Transport
System in Hyderabad respectively. Memorandums of Understanding
(MOUs) were signed and thereafter joint venture companies have
been formed with Government of Maharashtra and Karnataka. Action
on formation of joint venture Company with Andhra Pradesh Government
will be taken on receipt of the Detailed Feasibility and Investment
report. However, the work on phase – I of the project in Hyderabad
is in progress on 50:50 cost sharing basis between the Ministry
of Railways and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. In addition,
the projects are being undertaken on cost sharing basis with City
and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited
(CIDCO) in Maharashtra, with Government of Jharkhand, Government
of Karnataka, Government of Tamil Nadu and Government of West
Bengal.
