RAJYA SABHA
The Government is
not considering to amend the Constitution in order to check the
abuse of office by Chairmen and other members of Public Service
Commissions. The Union Public Service Commission in their memorandum
submitted before the National Commission to review the working
of the Constitution, had inter-alia, suggested that the relevant
provisions in the constitution may be amended to ensure that only
persons with spotless reputation are appointed as Chairmen and
Members of the Commissions. The National Commission to review
the working of the constitution, however, recommended that it
did not see any need for change in the existing provisions concerning
UPSC or other Public Service Commissions or any enactment. The
said commission has recommended that healthy conventions may be
developed.
This was stated in
Rajya Sabha today by the Minister of State in the Ministry of
Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Smt. Vasundhara Raje
in a written answer to Shri Ramchandra Khuntia.
