RS. 11.47 CRORE WASTELAND DEVELOPMENT FUNDS RELEASED TO ANDHRA
PRADESH
The Ministry of Rural Development
has released Rs. 600.975 lakh five districts of Andhra Pradesh
for watershed development projects, under Drought Prone Areas
Programme (DPAP), during 2002-03. The districts are: Mehboobnagar
(Rs.121.50), Kurnool (Rs.135.00 lakh) and Prakasam (Rs.138.375
lakh). These funds are for the projects started during the year
2000-02 in the districts. Adilabad and Srikakulam get Rs. 161.010
lakh and Rs. 45 lakh respectively for the projects started during
the year 1997-98 and 1998-99.
Under Desert Development Programme
(DDP), Anantapur gets Rs. 270 lakh for planning and development
of watershed projects. With the second installment of funds the
district has to develop 80 projects during the year 2002-03.
For completion of ongoing watershed
projects, the Ministry has also released Rs. 276.60 lakh for four
districts in the State under Integrated Wasteland Development
Programme (Employment Assurance Scheme – Watershed Component)
during 2002-03. The districts are: Cuddapah (Rs. 16.37 lakh);
Medak (Rs. 54.61 lakh); Srikakulam (Rs. 167.36 lakh) and West
Godavari (Rs. 38.26 lakh).
