UN MILITARY CONTINGENT JUNIOR OFFICERS TRAINING CAPSULE HELD IN THE CITY

    A Training Capsule for Junior Officers of the United Nations Military Contingent was held at the Centre for United Nations Peace Keeping. The Capsule, which began on 20 August 2001, concluded here today.

    Addressing the closing ceremony of the capsule, Lt Gen RK Sawhney, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Training & Coordination) advised the officers to apply the knowledge acquired by them at the grass root level.  He said that as Company Commanders or Contingent Commanders they must be able to provide spirited leadership to the troops to keep up the discipline and esprit-de-corps in the mission, always and every time.

    One of the aims of the capsule was to acquaint the officers with the basic principles of UN Peace Keeping and important Peace Keeping Techniques in vogue.

    Officer from Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Phillipines, Thailand, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Russia, Venezuela, attended the course along with the Indian officers. Two instructors from Norway also shared their experiences.
