        A Tri-Services Seminar of the Wives Welfare Organisation of the three Services, hosted by the Naval Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), was held today at the Naval Officer’s Mess ‘Varuna’.

        During her welcome address, Smt Kaumudi Kumari, Vice President, NWWA said, "the wives of armed forces personnel have always been involved in welfare activities. With husbands away at sea or forward areas, problems had to be solved by women helping each other. These small altruistic groups grew into organisations we represent today".

        The Tri-Services Seminar is an effort towards greater interaction amongst the armed forces for effecting long term improvements in welfare and community services. Mrs Venita Kumar, President NWWA, Mrs Roopa Padmanabhan, President AWWA and Mrs Harveen Krishnaswamy, Vice President, AFWWA also attended the seminar, which included over 180 participants.

        The inaugural Tri Services seminar was hosted by AWWA and held on 16 Mar 2000, while the second one, hosted by AFWWA was held on 17 Apr 2001.
