The material being used as fuel for generation of power in the country is broadly classified as coal (including Lignite), gas and liquid fuel. This information was given in the Lok Sabha here today by the Minister of State for Power Smt.Jayawanti Mehta in reply to a written question. The Minister of State further said that hydro electric power projects utilize available water for power generation and do not need fuel for power generation. She also gave fuel wise generation capacity of projects under construction during the remaining period of the 9th Plan as well as 10th Plan. The details are given below:-
