CENTRE DECLARES SERVICES IN SECURITY PRINTING PRESS, HYDERABAD AS PUBLIC UTILITY SERVICE FOR ANOTHER SIX MONTHS
The Central Government has declared services in the Security Printing Press, Hyderabad as a public utility service under the Industrial Dispute Act, 1947 for another six months from November 24, 2001. In a notification issued here, the Labour Ministry said the Central government is of the opinion that the public interest requires the extension of public utility service period by another six months.
The services in the Security Printing Press, Hyderabad were earlier declared as public utility service from November 24, 2000 for six months and later extended on May 24, 2001 for another six months.
The employees in this industry, as a result, would among other things be required to give notice to their employer six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started. During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees cannot go on strike.
