UREA PRODUCTION TOUCHED 15.71 LAKH MTs & DAP WAS 4.86 LAKH MTs FOR OCTOBER 2001
The estimated production of fertilizers during October, 2001 was 8.99 lakh MTs of nitrogen and that of phosphate was 3.61 lakh MTs. In product terms, production of urea was 15.71 lakh MTs and that of DAP was 4.86 lakh MTs. The overall capacity utilization for the month was 89.7% for Nitrogen and 85.0% for Phosphate. The cumulative production of fertilizers during April-October, 2001 is estimated as 62.25 lakh MTs of nitrogen and 12.44 lakh MTs of phosphate.
Despatches, Availability and Sales
Urea
During October 2001, 15.92 lakh MTs urea was dispatched to the States against the target of 16 lakh MTs. Cumulative availability of urea during the current Rabi by the end of October, 2001 had been 35.77 lakh MTs including opening stock of 19.85 lakh MTs. This was 32% of the allocation of 110.93 lakh MTs under Essential Commodities Act (ECA) for the season. The availability of urea had been satisfactory in all the States so far during the Rabi 2001-02 season and no State has reported shortage of urea. The Sales of urea upto 31.10.2001 was 8.93 lakh MTs.
DAP
Cumulative availability of DAP during the current Rabi by the end of October, 2001 had been 13.89 lakh MTs. The sales of DAP upto 31.10.2001 was 7.41 lakh MTs.
MOP
Cumulative availability of MOP during the current Rabi by the end of October, 2001 had been 6.39 lakh MTs. During Rabi 2001 (upto 31.10.2001) total sales, including sales for complex manufacturers had been 2.55 lakh MTs.
Imports
During October, 2001, 2.20 lakh MTs of urea has been imported. During the month under review, 1.40 lakh MTs of DAP and 2.85 lakh MTs of MOP have been imported. The cumulative arrivals for the current year of Urea, DAP and MOP in the country had been 2.20, 8.48 lakh MTs and 18.38 lakh MTs, respectively.
Loading by railways
The average daily loading of fertilizers by rail during October, 2001 was 3268 equivalent BG wagons per day.
