FAIRY QUEEN FLAGGED OFF ON ITS FIRST RUN OF THE SEASON
Indian Railways Guinness Book record holder steam loco Fairy Queen was flagged off today for its maiden run of this tourist season from Delhi Cantt. Railway Station. It was flagged off by Member Traffic, Railway Board, Shri R.K. Thoopal. Twenty-two tourist passengers are on board of this train of whom eighteen are foreign nationals. The Majestic Ferry Queen engine was built in 1855. This steam engine is the oldest working engine in the world and finds place in the Guinness Book of world record. It has also won National Tourism Award. Every year during tourist season between November to February, the Fairy Queen leaves almost for fortnight journey when tourists are taken to Alwar in Rajasthan. They also visit Sariska Tiger Reserve and other sight -seeing places. This train is one of the important tourist trains of the world.
