FUNDS RELEASED FOR GUJARAT FOR RURAL DRINKING WATER AND COMPUTERISATION OF LAND RECORDS
Ministry of Rural Development has released Rs.36.57 crore to the Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Gandhinagar towards second instalment of funds for rural drinking water supply programme. Out of this, Rs.34.57 crore has been released under the Centrally sponsored Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP) Normal Programme and Rs.2 crore to ARWSP (Desert Development Programme) DDP - Areas Programme for the year 2001-2002. The funds will be utilised for execution/completion of schemes to provide safe drinking water facilities to rural habitations and schools. In addition, Rs.2.50 lakh has been released to Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Gandhinagar towards monitoring and investigation units for the year 2001-2002. The Ministry has released Rs.6.30 lakh towards first instalment to Environmental Sanitation Institute, Ahmedabad for conducting 24 training courses on low cost sanitation under National HRD Programme.
An amount of Rs.120 lakh has been released under Centrally sponsored scheme for Strengthening of Revenue Administration and Updating of land records during the financial year of 2001-2002.
