As per the latest information received from the State Government of Gujarat 28018 habitations have been fully covered and 2096 habitations have been partially covered with drinking water supply facilities.

The National Agenda for Governance of the Government of India envisages provision of drinking water supply facilities to all rural habitations in the country by the year 2004. As per the Comprehensive Action Plan (CAP) prepared on the basis of the information furnished by the State Governments, this objective could be achieved subject to availability of funds.

This information was given by Shri Subhash Maharia, Minister of State for Rural Development in a written reply to a question by Shri Anantray Devashanker Dave in Rajya Sabha today.
