WASTELANDS DEVELOPMENT PROJECT FOR MADHYA PRADESH AND CHHATTISGARH

    The Ministry of Rural Development has released an amount of Rs.382.27 lakh to the State Governments of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for Wastelands Development Projects. An amount of Rs.279.74 lakh has been released to nine districts of Madhya Pradesh these districts are Ratlam, Rajgarh, Satna, Shajapur, Chattarpur, Raisen, Shahdol, Shivpuri and Neemuch.

    The Ministry has also released an amount of Rs.102.53 lakh for the implementation of Integrated Wastelands Development Project (IWDP) in four districts of Chhattisgarh during 2001-2002. These districts are Mahasamund, Raipur, Durg and Rajnandgaon.

    The main objectives of the scheme are development of wastelands based on village/micro watershed plans, promoting overall economic development and improving socio-economic conditions of the resource poor and disadvantage sections inhabiting the programme areas.
