'23' RAILWAY RESERVATION COUNTER AT INDIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR A computerised Passenger Reservation Counter has been set up at the Indian Railways exhibition at the India International Trade Fair 2001 for the benefit of trade representatives and public visiting the Trade Fair.The Centre, working at Hall No.14, Pragati Maidan will remain functional from 10.30 hrs to 1330 hrs and from 1430 hrs to 1830 hrs everyday till 27 of this month. Besides issuing train tickets for various destinations, the counter will also have facilities for general enquiry, refund of tickets etc.
The Centre is part of Indian Railways stall at the IITF where the Indian Railways has showcased among other things its latest modernisation drive focussed on safety and hassle-free journey to rail users. Apart from the captivating beauty of hill railways and efforts to facilitate tourism, different Zonal Railways and Production Units are displaying safety enhancement devices, computerised passenger reservation system, state-of-art signalling equipment, most modern locomotives and sleek and passenger-friendly coaches.
The beautiful facade of Chennai Railway station welcomes the visitors, at the entrance, in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Southern Railway this year. Working models, translites and blow-ups depicting almost all aspects that ensure smooth functioning of the railways round the clock, are sure to create a lasting impression on the visitors. Of special interest are the models of the Anti-Collision Device indigenously developed by the RDSO and the Konkan Railways Corporation, as well as the Sky-Bus, as an innovative transport model for the city traffic.
