'23' O.RAJAGOPAL VISITS INDIAN RAILWAYS PAVILION IN IITF-2001 The Minister of State for Railways, Shri O. Rajagopal visited the Indian Railways Pavilion at Hall No:14 in the IITF, this morning and lighted the lamp.Indian Railways, one of the largest and oldest railway systems in the world, is showcasing, among other things, its latest modernisation drive focussed on safety and hassle-free journey to rail users. Apart from the captivating beauty of Hill railways and its efforts to facilitate tourism, different Zonal railways and production units are displaying safety enhancement devices, computerised passenger reservation system, state-of-art signalling equipment, most modern locomotives and sleek and passenger-friendly coaches.
The beautiful facade of Chennai Railway station welcomes the visitors, at the entrance, in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Southern Railway this year. Working models, translites and blow-ups depicting almost all aspects that ensure smooth functioning of the railways round the clock, are sure to create a lasting impression on the visitors. The exhibition is patterned in a style and manner to highlight the commitment of the Indian Railways to public service and safety.
Of special interest to the visitors are the models of the Anti-Collision Device indigenously developed by the RDSO and the Konkan Railways Corporation, as well as the Sky-Bus as an innovative transport model for the city traffic.
Other items on display include working models of diesel and electric locomotives, Shatabdi Express, PRS Terminals, Solar Energy operated, signalling system and other signalling and telecommunication equipment and items depicting technological breakthrough on IR.
