18SHRI TRIPATHY TO DEDICATE KISCO PIG IRON PLANT TO THE NATION ON NOVEMBER 10
The 2.3 lakh tonne KISCO Pig Iron Plant at Mangalore will be inaugurated and dedicated to the nation by the Union Minister for Steel Shri Braja Kishore Tripathy on November 10, Saturday. Kudremukh Iron & Steel Company Ltd. (KISCO) was formed jointly by Kudremukh Iron Ore Company (KIOCL), Metal Scrap Trading Corporation (MSTC) Ltd. and Metallurgical & Engineering Consultant (India) Ltd. (MECON), the public sector units of the Steel Ministry to implement a new project to manufacture low sulphur, low phosphorous, pig iron and ductile iron ore spun pipes. Rs.300 crore Pig Iron Plant consists of 350 cu. m. blast furnace with auxiliary facilities such as a power plant with power generation using excess blast furnace gas of 7 mw capacity. The project has been financed by KIOCL and other promoters and also borrowing from financial institutions.
The Union Minister of State for Textiles Shri V.Dhananjay Kumar will inaugurate the Companys captive power plant on the occasion and the Karnataka Minister for large and medium industries Shri R.V.Deshpandey will be laying the foundation stone of ductile iron spun pipe plant. Shri Ramanath Rai, the minister for Fisheries & Ports, Govt. of Karnataka will be inaugurating the administrative building of KISCO.
The ductile iron spun pipe plant will have a capacity of producting 70,000 tonnes per year in the first phase. It is expected to be increased to 1,00,000 tonnes subsequently.
