FUNDS RELEASED TO PUNJAB, WEST BENGAL, RAJASTHAN AND MEGHALAYA UDNER RAJIV GANDHI NATIONAL DRINKING WATER MISSION

    The Ministry of Rural Development has released funds for undertaking various projects under Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission (RGNDWM). An amount of Rs.1138.50 lakh has been released to the State Government of Punjab towards the second instalment of funds out of the provisional allocation of Rs.2277 lakh during 2001-2002 for execution/completion of schemes to provide safe drinking water facilities to rural habitations and schools under the Centrally Sponsored Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP). Rs. 2.50 lakh has also been released to the State Government of Punjab towards Monitoring & Investigation Units for the year 2001-2002.

    The Ministry of Rural Development has released first instalment of Rs.1122 lakh to the North 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad, District North 24 Parganas of West Bengal out of the central share of Rs.3740 lakh. The total approved cost of the Project is Rs.4000 lakh for implementation of sector reform pilot project in the district to institutionalise community participation in Rural Water Supply Programme.

    An amount of Rs.272.10 lakh has been released to District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya towards the first instalment of the central share of Rs.907.01 lakh. The total approved cost of the project is Rs.975.11 lakh for implementation of sector reforms pilot project in the district to institutionalise community participation in Rural Water Supply Programme.

    The Ministry has released second instalment of Rs.3.98 lakh at the total approved cost of Rs.49.7 lakh to Research Design and Development Division, Ground Water Department, Rajasthan, Jodhpur for the project titled "Reconstruction of Palaeo-Drainage Network in Western Rajasthan".

    The Ministry has also released an amount of Rs.3,01,944 to the Independent Producer, Shri K.K. Kapil for production of documentary film on "Provision of Drinking Water in Villages".
