43THIRD EDITORS CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL SECTOR ISSUES BEGINS ON 7TH NOVEMBER, 2001
The Third Editors Conference on Social Sector Issues begins here from Wednesday, the 7th November, 2001 at the National Press Centre, Press Information Bureau, Shastri Bhavan. Editors/writers/correspondents and columnists from all part of the country will participate in the Conference sponsored by the Ministry of Rural Development. 14 Ministries/Departments of the Government of India will participate in this Conference. These include Ministries of Rural Development, Human Resource Development, Health and Family Welfare, Home Affairs, Food and Consumer Affairs, Social Justice and Empowerment, Labour, Water Resources, Tourism, Law Justice and Company Affairs, Tribal Affairs, Non-Conventional Energy Sources and Agro and Rural Industries.
The three-day Conference will be inaugurated by the Union Minister for Rural Development, Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu on the 7th November, 2001. After the inaugural session, there will be separate sessions with Ministers and senior officials of the key ministries in the social sector to enable Editors, columnists and senior correspondents to interact with them and get a detailed background of government policies and programme. The Conference will provide a platform to discuss issues of human development in social sectors with editors representing national and regional newspapers. The Conference will also provide an opportunity to the government to get feed back from the editors.
The Editors participating in the Conference will be provided with the background material on policy initiatives and achievements of the participating Ministries. The inputs received by the Editors are used by them for future news reports/articles/editorials etc.
