19D.E.P.B. BENEFITS FOR EMBROIDERED WOOLLEN PRODUCTS AND ACRYLIC KNITWEAR
The Woollen Industry has welcomed the decision of the Government to allow D.E.P.B. benefits for embroidered woollen products and acrylic knitwear. The Chairman of Wool and Woollen Export Council, Mr. Ashok Jaidka expressed his satisfaction on the decision of the Government and said that this will definitely boost the sagging morale of the exporters. The Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce has announced this benefit vide Public Notice No. 44 (RE-01) 1997-2002 dated 31st October, 2001. So far this benefit was being denied to the member-exporters of the Council even on account of small embroidery on woollen products and acrylic knitwear which was done to enhance the look of the product for attracting the foreign buyers.
The W.W.E.P.C. had been pastering upon the Ministry of Textiles and the office of D.G.F.T. since long for allowing these benefits for all wool and wool blended items and acrylic knitwear with or without embroidery after fixation of a value cap. With this decision of the Government the long pending demand of the exporters has been met.
