"KOSHISH" WINS AWARD

   "Koshish", a 13 episode series of video films, produced by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has won RAPA (Radio and Television Practitioner Association) award for best film in the category of social communication for the year 2000.

    'Koshish' depicts the endeavour of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment through NGOs to bring in qualitative improvement in the life of various weaker sections such Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Minorities, disabled, the aged and neglected and destitute children. Through this series of films, it has been highlighted as to how the partnership between the Government and NGOs can make a difference to the lives of teeming millions of the country.

    Films produced by this Ministry have won several national awards on earlier occasions. This Ministry's film `Samar', on Dalit empowerment directed by Shyam Benegal and `Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar' a film on his life, teaching and philosophy directed by Dr. Jabbar Patel have won national awards for best feature films for year 1998. More recently, the film `Kal Ka Aadmi' on efforts of Shri Raghu Nath Karve on reproductive health jointly produced by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Health won the national award for best film of 2000 in the category of films on social issues.
